U like Unicorn.
U like Umbrella.
And… U like Uffizi.
Yes! Did you know that the Uffizi, a famous place all over the world, is shaped like a U? An incredible, majestic, enormous palace in the form of a U!
The Uffizi, where today we can come across powerful Gods and beautiful Goddesses, centaurs, monsters, and much more, used to be “offices.” They were the offices of a very important man, the Duke of Florence, from the Medici family, who wanted them to be in the shape of a U.
An immense U, whose long arm starts from Palazzo della Signoria, the castle where the Duke lived with his wife and his eleven children, to the Arno, and then, after a short stretch where you can lean out over the river, goes back again to Piazza della Signoria.
Today, the Uffizi is no longer just offices. Well, inside, there are still offices that help this magnificent place run smoothly. It’s like a treasure chest where the works of art that belonged to the Dukes of Florence are kept.
The Dukes of Florence are no longer here, but strolling through the corridors and halls of the Uffizi, we can get to know them. They can still tell us their story through the objects they collected over the centuries and finally gave to the city and its citizens.
In Florence, at the Uffizi, very strange things can happen.
For example, you might hear languages so strange that you don’t even recognize them! You could meet famous people, like football players, singers, or actors. And it’s also possible to come across a little lost wild boar looking for its parents.
Yes… the Uffizi is so huge that if you’re not careful, you might even get lost. But we’re here to help the characters of the Uffizi, bewildered and scared, find their way!
How? I’ll tell you!
For instance, we can accompany the little wild boar, from its mom, through the rooms of the gallery. We’ll meet worried moms, fantastic characters, beautiful women, and even monstrous creatures. Each of them surely has something to tell us… in the end, who knows if we’ll reunite the little boar with its mom!
Even little Giovanni de’Medici doesn’t know where to go anymore. He has walked a lot to find his mom, dad, sisters, and brothers, but now he’s desperate and doesn’t know what to do. No problem! We’ll take care of it! In return, little Giovanni will have to tell us something about his story. Especially, he’ll have to tell us why he wears that strange red outfit and why he holds a little bird in his hand.
I’ll be waiting for you at the Uffizi, but if you want a sneak peek, read the story in the PDF below!
